After a year of cycle rides, running, triathlons and many more challenges, the staff at BAE Systems have raised an incredible amount of money as part of their ‘Charity Challenge’ initiative. Every employee voted for their chosen charity and The Royal Navy and Royal Marine’s Children’s Fund was overwhelmed and delighted to be chosen as one of six champion charities to share a £37,000 donation just prior to Christmas.
Braving the cold outside HMS Victory in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, Rory Fisher, Managing Director for BAE Systems Maritime Services presented the cheques to the representatives from each of the fortunate charities; including the RNRMCFs own Clare Scherer. He said: “BAE Systems are proud to be supporting such a dynamic and diverse group of charities. Our employees chose charities which were important to them and we are delighted to be supporting causes which are close to us and the community.” Rory was accompanied by apprentices from The Maritime Services who will be the future workforce of BAE Systems.
The team at BAE Systems Maritime Services will continue to support local and national charities in 2013 and will be closely working with a view to enhance skills and education.
